Protest rocked Akure, the Ondo state capital, on Saturday, following the murder of a 27-year-old, trader, Ezeani Ebuka, by a soldier.

Traders stormed the streets of Arakale, in the metropolis to protest the killing of their member by the military officer.

The Arakale axis of the road was blocked by the protesting traders who called for justice.
The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Akin Rotimi, has reiterated the Green Chamber’s resolute to deepen grassroots engagements.

Rotimi, a member representing Ekiti North 1 (Ikole/Oye) Federal Constituency, said the House of Representatives was interested in giving meaning to the people’s mandate to members by ensuring inclusive representation.

The lawmaker spoke at Ikole Ekiti on Saturday during a one-day retreat with the theme “Building a team that leaves no one behind” where he presented appointment letters to 85 legislative aides and assistants which included 26 persons with disabilities.
The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has charged President Bola Tinubu to tackle the twin menace of insecurity, as well as economic hardship confronting the nation and Nigerians at the moment.


The Council gave the charge in a congratulatory message in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Mrs Chinyere Oge-Kalu, on the occasion of the 72nd birthday anniversary of President Tinubu.

IPAC, in celebrating with the president, described him as an outstanding patriot and politician who dedicated his life to national service.

Oyo Police Arrest Five For Burning Patrol Van
Oyo State Police Command, on Saturday, arrested five suspects for setting ablaze its patrol van and vandalising Elete Outstation on the new Oyo-Ogbomoso Expressway in the Atiba Local Government Area of the state.

A statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, in Ibadan, the state capital, noted that the suspects, who claimed to be held up in traffic gridlock on the expressway, vented their anger on the police for their perceived inability to restore normalcy on the road.

The statement read in part, “The police preliminary investigation reveals that the suspected hoodlums, after realising they had been held up in the gridlock for a while, charged in their numbers towards the nearby Elete Out-Station over the perceived failure of the police to rid the traffic and, thereby, set ablaze the Out-Station’s recently refurbished patrol Van and vandalised some parts of the building.
